One of the biggest mistakes we see in organizations is when an individual is promoted to a leadership position but receives no training on how to effectively carry out that role.  Leadership skills are not genetically acquired.  A person does not automatically become a leader by virtue of his or her position on the organization chart.  While some people might naturally be more comfortable in a leadership role than others, virtually every leader can benefit from skill-building through specialized training and development.
